Author David Grann travels into the heart of the Amazon to follow in the footsteps of lost British Explorer Percy Fawcett. In 1925 seasoned explorer Fawcett and his son John traveled into the Amazon to find the rumored Lost City of Z, but neither were ever heard from again. Since their disappearance a number of travelers over the ages have gone in search of what happened to them, and the author recounts those tales along with Fawcett's and his own as he takes us along a journey around the globe and through time.

One Day by David Nicholls
This is a tale of two friends, Emma & Dexter, that checks in with the pair on June 15th of every year after they graduate college. Each chapter is a new year, and the format allows the author to share the story of Emma, a smart girl struggling to find her way, and Dexter, an aloof bachelor just along for the ride, as they try to hold on to their friendship and realize over the years how much they mean to each other. With each new chapter and year, the book manages to not over sentimentalize the all too rapid passage of time, but rather grasps the nuance of it; while still being a quick read!
